Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies (PCRET) was  established by merging the National

 Institute of Silicon Technology (NIST) and the Pakistan Council for Appropriate Technologies (PCAT) on May

 8, 2001. It is the prime institution in the country for coordinating R&D and promotional activities in

 different renewable energy technologies.

The council has its head office in Islamabad and regional offices in the provisional capitals Karachi, Lahore,

Peshawar and Quetta. It has close intercation and working relationship with NGO's & Provincial Agriculture

Welfare departments, Local Govt & Rural development offices & other organization working for the socio-

economic development of the rural and semi urban areas of the country.
